Life in the Floyd River Valley
The City of Hinton is located in the valley of the Floyd River in Plymouth County in northwest Iowa. The topography is one of rolling hills broken by small streams, with the western portion of town built on the sharp Loess Hills that border the Floyd River flood plain.
Platted in 1883, Hinton today is home to roughly 930 residents, an active school and business community, three parks, and a welcoming pace of life just minutes from Sioux City and Le Mars.
